WELCOME TO ANISH, THE DATA SCIENTIST PORTFOLIO

Exploring New Ideas

RESEARCH & DISCOVERIES

Primary Areas of Interest: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

I am a Data Scientist for the United Nations Sustainable Development Project (TOSSIB, Funded by the world's oldest independent scientific academy - the Royal Society). My role within TOSSIB centres on applying supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms to analyze data critically, enabling informed decision-making supporting the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG6 and SDG11, which address sanitation and clean water. Furthermore, I have engaged in a distinctive Machine Learning Analysis project, investigating polymerase II pause locations during the Transcription process, a pioneering approach pioneered by Harvard University's Genetics Department. Publications related to these endeavours are currently underway.
Beyond these significant projects, I have also delved into a comprehensive road accident analysis for a prominent UK council, harnessing machine learning for accident prediction and proposing preventative strategies. To further showcase my data science expertise, I have designed and developed a proprietary personal application named' Me-AI.' This groundbreaking app, a testament to my creativity and technical prowess, employs AI capabilities to streamline time management and daily task organization on personal computers.
My professional journey has been marked by pivotal roles at both HSBC Bank and Universal Pictures (NBCU) in London, where I've honed my expertise in core banking domains and programming, respectively. My career commenced with programmer roles within HSBC's legacy systems in India, establishing a solid software development and analysis foundation. These experiences have enriched my professional development and allowed me to adapt to diverse roles and industries. I was blessed with two master's in computer science and one in Data Science with Distinction from the University of Aberdeen, which has five Nobel Laureates.

Machine Learning Analysis of Polymerase-II Pause locations during Transcription process (DNA to mRNA)

This project was to predict the pause locations on the DNA sequence of the pure form of saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. This project was to predict the pause locations on the DNA sequence of the pure form of saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast. The transcription process in which DNA information is copied into mRNA using polymerase enzyme is not continuous; pause locations are created in this process. I tried to predict the pause location in the NET-Seq (Native Elongating Transcript Sequencing) of saccharomyces cerevisiae using Chip-Seq (Chromatin Immunoprecipitation Sequencing) and Chip-Exo (Chromatin Immunoprecipitation with Exonuclease Digestion Sequencing) using Binary Classification Algorithms. This project involves the Machine learning analysis of polymerase II pause location using Random Forest, Logistic Regression and GBM.

Tools: Python, Spyder, High Performance Computing, SLURM, Tableau.

CURRENT RESEARCH PROJECT

I created a proprietary unique app called "Me-AI". It uses artificial intelligence to help organize time and daily tasks on personal computers. This application can be used in all corporate areas where time management is essential. This is a universal application, which has lots of scope in the future with computer vision to do sentiment analysis of a person and suggest various activities. This application also focuses on the health aspects of employees and can suggest small exercises to be carried out during work to enhance health.

Tools: Python, tkinter(GUI in Python), pyttsx3(Text to Speech(TTS) and threading library.

Comprehensive analysis of road accidents in a UK Council

This project was conducted to analyze the accidents in significant UK councils. The Analysis includes Exploratory Data Analysis, Demographic Analysis of Crashes using the DBSCAN algorithm, Comparison with other councils, Machine Learning analysis- Prediction of accident severity, Preventive Measures, Public Perception and Behaviour, and Future trends using time series analysis. The methodologies of this Analysis can be reused against any city in this world.
Tools: Python, QGIS, GEOJSON, Jupyter, SQL

United Nations Sustainable Development Project.

I was engaged in the United Nations Sustainable Development Project known as TOSSIB. TOSSIB, short for 'Towards Sustainable Sanitation in India and Brazil,' focuses on assessing sustainability outcomes across diverse sanitation systems and geographical settings, including India and Brazil. In my role as a Data Scientist, I leverage both Supervised and Unsupervised Machine Learning algorithms to derive valuable insights and support crucial decision-making processes related to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG6 and SDG11, which are centred around improving sanitation and access to clean water. Because of security and privacy concerns and considering the conflict of interest, only a limited level of information will be shared on this site.
